I just made arrangements to have Dunder collected.
He is 12 years old and I couldn't see him going any longer without being collected.
It would be terrible to lose his valuable genes.
He is a qualified herd sire, fully documented, in Legacy and ADCA.
Once the collection is done, he will go back into service, breeding Legacy Eve of Paradise and the rest of my small herd.
Winifer of Paradise is my young replacement herd bull. He is a Traditional black that carries red. Winifer will be going to Fireman's Run Farm to begin his career as a breeding bull. He will be 9 months old. He is going there to breed all of her cows, hopefully to share the Traditional red that he carries. Some of the cows he will be breeding also carry Traditional red, so there is a chance for Traditional red calves.
Meanwhile, back here, Dunder will be breeding my cows and providing each of them with a dun gene.
Windridge Dexters carrying red!
The next step will be to place Dunder after his round of breeding is done here. I'd like to find him a new home where he could service Legacy or Traditional Dexters into his old age.
For a new owner desiring to help in the preservation of Traditional and Legacy Dexters, I can probably provide him with a breeding partner.
I will be able to ship Dunder semen to the 48 continental states, to owners of Legacy and Traditional Dexters. I can bundle his semen with a short list of other Traditional Dexter bulls worthy of note. All for one shipping charge.
I'm excited to be adding a new Legacy bull to the list of available AI bulls.
