So glad to be on this forum. I NEED gain insight on Dexters. It is the info and record of them as a breed. So bear with me. One thing i thought would be helpful.... Maybe in the info of members, is your location. In reading posts ,I would go to your member info to relate to some of your ideas, concerns and general discussiopn. I do not think it could be such a privacy issue to say what state you live in. just my need ,i guess in relating.

Hello, Donna. I'm in central Virginia, a little south of Richmond. I got my first Dexter in 2003 and have kept a herd of 6 to 11 Dexters since then. I raise them as breeding stock, potential milkers, pets and curiosities I started with some of the best Dexters in the land and have refined them into an even better strain that has all the most desirable traits, ncluding temperament. Actually temperament is the first trait considered in selection. You should come visit us if you can. We are about 9 hours south of you, about half-way between you and Florida. I bought my first Dexter heifer in Ellenville, NY. It was a memorable day-after-Thanskgiving dash up and back through the snow. Well worth the trip. I am very committed to the preservation of the Dexter breed. I am a preservationist and a Traditionalist. My favorite Dexters are black and horned. I love the little short legged Dexters.

Welcome Donna. That is a good suggestion. I went in and added mine.
The easiest way to do that is edit your profile. On the personal tab anything you enter in most recent status will show up under your avatar. You can also add signature line that will show under each post.

Donna,
We lived in NY many yrs ago, near Utica, back when we first got married. pre-Dexters. One thing I really remember is the winters - so much snow! And it seemed like it was a looooong winter and then 2 days of "spring" and then right to summer. LOL
I keep seeing on the weather, NY has been getting hit in some areas. We haven't had hardly any snow down here so far. I'm in the mountains so we usually get it. Lots of rain, about 2in just last week but above freezing. It has been really warm here.
