I found some rot in the loft floor and the end truss of the barn, so I planned to fix it.
That was over the winter. Now that it's too hot to be doing hard work, I finally got around to it.
That's what I've been doing for the last week. It took 5 days to rip out all the old wood and 2 days to put in the new. I had to be careful not to damage any wood that was staying.
I bought all salt treated lumber, but that wasn't needed, because I provided lots of salt as I sweated. I dropped 5 pounds.
It looks a lot better now and there is only one mistake. I won't tell you what it is and it is not easy to spot. I'll pretend it is perfect.

getting ready to do the same. Have to put a new roof on my house. I know I have overhang problems and will have to replace the bottom edge of the sheeting.Hope the ends of the rafters dont have to be replaced as well.
What is salt treated wood? Never heard of that. Wouldn't water just wash the salt out of the wood?
